Living in New Zealand – Travel
Public transport within the main cities is good. New Zealanders are big car users so it’s not up to European standards.
If you are taking an internship out of the main city centres, then it’s a good idea to buy a car. It is relatively easy to find a second hand car and insurance is a lot lower than it is in Europe.
Current petrol prices in New Zealand are around $2 per litre NZD.
